25 March 2019Lincolnshire Beach Management 2019

Lincolnshire Beach Management (LBM) 2019

We are due to start the 2019 Lincolnshire beach management works on Monday 6 May 2019 with preparations underway at present. The beach management works help us manage coastal flood risk for around 20,000 residential homes, 1,700 businesses, 24,500 static caravans and 35,000 hectares of farmland as well as a bustling tourist industry.

The beaches due to be nourished in this year’s scheme are Boygrift, Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe, Wolla Bank and Chapel Six Marshes, Trunch Lane, Ingoldmells and Huttoft.

As in previous years, our contractors will be dredging sand from licensed offshore sites using a trailing suction hopper dredger. The dredger will move closer to the shore twice a day - just before high tide - to pump sand onto the beach using a steel and rubber 630 meter long pipeline. After the sand is pumped onto the beach, bulldozers and excavators will be used to push the sand into the right beach profile. This work replaces sand lost to erosion, reducing wave overtopping during storms and will protect the sea defences from being damaged.

For safety reasons, sections of beach will be cordoned off from public access while the works are ongoing. We ask please that the public remain vigilant at all times when accessing the beach during the period of the works and ensure children and dogs are supervised at all times. Signage will be in place on site to indicate beach closures.

06 March 2019Lincolnshire NHS - Healthy Conversation 2019

I am delighted to advise you that the Lincolnshire NHS public engagement exercise ‘Healthy Conversation 2019’ will go live from 3pm this afternoon (when the media embargo will be lifted).

We anticipate that ‘Healthy Conversation 2019’ will run into the autumn and there will be a wide range of engagement events and discussions across the county with the public, their representatives, our partners and staff.  This will be an open engagement exercise which will shape how we take health and the health service forward in Lincolnshire in the years ahead, and we will welcome wide involvement in it.

From 3pm this afternoon you will be able to access information through our website at https://www.lincolnshire.nhs.uk/healthy-conversation.

Please feel free to share this with your colleagues from that point.  If you would like any further information at this stage, please do not hesitate to be in touch.

With best wishes
